It’s not an easy task to take a vehicle from family-focused hatchback to high-octane hotrod. Building any new vehicle takes a lot of work by people with very different skillsets working as a team, and this was a special case. That’s why Ford brought a camera along for the ride to record the process, compiling footage and turning it into a special documentary called “Rebirth of an Icon.”
All year long, conferences are held around the world by major and minor video game developers and publishers, but one show routinely tops them all: E3. Ford attended this year’s conference in style, celebrating the upcoming release of the fifth game in the blockbuster Halo franchise with a one-of-a-kind Ford F-150 styled after the game’s United Nations Space Command vehicles.
Short for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3 is an industry-only event and the biggest gaming conference in the world. All of the industry giants make appearances with dazzling new game demos in tow, with the biggest conferences reserved for the “Big Three” companies: Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. Microsoft had a lot to say about its upcoming first-person shooter, Halo 5: Guardians this year, which brought Ford and its custom truck into the picture.
Ford’s truck, dubbed the Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat (codename M552), was on display at the show for all to see. Based on the Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4, this pickup was modified to celebrate the Halo games. It boasted, among other things, custom FOX Racing shocks, a Currie full floater rear axle, ADD fenders, 17-inch wheels mounted with quality off-road tires and a special Halo-themed exterior design. Of course, it would have been a poor promotional vehicle if it didn’t offer a way for you to play through the Halo series itself. Fortunately, the Sandcat was equipped with a special Xbox One console and head-restraint-mounted displays so drivers could truly step into the shoes of protagonist Master Chief.
Keep an eye out for the Halo Sandcat as you watch uploaded E3 presentation and showroom-floor footage, and look for the game it’s celebrating, Halo 5: Guardians, when it’s released on October 27. In the meantime, if you’d like to have some adventures of your own, you can get the Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew that the Sandcat was based on right here at George Coleman Ford!
Peanut butter and jelly. Fork and knife. Pen and paper. Country and trucks. There are some things that simply belong together, things that lose some of their potency when taken apart. That’s why it’s only natural that Ford Trucks, master of the modern pickup, and Pandora Radio, Internet radio powerhouse, join forces to create the ultimate exploration of country music in the U.S.
For the engineers at Ford, it’s just another day, another innovation, but for pickup truck fans and South Carolina residents fond of outdoor activities, this next bit of news is a pretty big deal. Ford is touting their brand-new trailer-towing technology, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which allows you to easily pilot your vehicle with just two fingers.
You may have participated in a Take Your Child to Work Day in your youth, or maybe you’ve been one of the parents bringing their kids in, but it’s a safe assumption that, for most of you, it was an unspectacular experience. You or your child probably spent the day coloring, playing a handheld video game or rolling around in an office chair until someone told you to stop. Take Your Child to Work Day at Ford, on the other hand, is less about breaking up the monotony and more about breaking world records, including the one for highest Hot Wheels car track loop!
No one likes getting pulled over by police because they didn’t see the speed limit signs and were driving faster than the law allows. Ford has always focused on simplifying drivers’ experiences on the road and in adopting the latest and greatest automotive features, which is why it’s offering up a solution. The automaker just announced a brand-new type of driver-assistive technology called the Intelligent Speed Limiter, and it’s definitely worth a look.
The exciting Ford Focus RS is scheduled to be shipped to United States retailers like our Ford dealership near Greenville, SC, in spring of 2016. For those who can’t wait that long, Ford is graciously offering us a look at the high-performance road car a little earlier than that. The Focus RS will make its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show, and it’s sure to be a real show-stopper!
Humpty Dumpty was nowhere to be found, but with 627 horses and all The King’s men, Ford put a Mustang together again. Of course, in this case, we’re talking about the Ford Mustang GT, and the king in question is none other than Richard King Petty, NASCAR legend and racecar rock star.
Ford Motor Company worked with Petty’s Garage, a performance house owned by seven-time Daytona 500 winner Richard Petty, to create a series of never-before-seen Ford Mustang GT models. A total of 143 special-edition cars were made, inspired by the popular reception and attractive design of the Mustang that Petty’s Garage presented at the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
We’ve all heard about or interacted with first dates who moved a little too fast, but it’s safe to say that none of them have been quite like this. In February, Ford got into the spirit of the season and had a little fun doing it by setting up a funny prank the automaker called “Speed Dating.”
